140616 - Liese Prettia Rose Tea Brown [Review + Experience]

Hey xx

So first off, I have used this dye before. But I used it last July (2013)... Aaaaaand I have no recollection of my experience using this except for the fact for where I bought the dye, where I dyed my hair and how my back hurt the following day because I was bent over the bath tub at my friend's place when I was rinsing my hair.

At the time of purchase, there were no reviews on this hair colour out there. In fact, the box is entirely in Japanese and I had spent 2 hours online trying hard to find English name for this colour. Obviously my hair will not come out looking like the box cover (how I wish it would haha). DO NOT EXPECT THE EXACT SAME COLOURS ON THE BOX... UNLESS YOU GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DYED, THEN PROBABLY LOL. Just my previous experience with box dyes in general :>

[ L - front of box || R - back of box ]
The colour shown on the box is gorgeous, but we all know it won't end up like that haha :')

Inside the box we have:
- Instructions (Japanese only) + gloves inside
- Patch test (white square)
- Pink pump for developer bottle
- Colourant (labelled "1")
- Developer (labelled "2")
- Conditioner (pink packet)

For those who have never used Liese Prettia or just need a refresher on their instructions, here's a video uploaded by Liese with English subtitles!

My hair is very thick and I'd say its length is between medium to long hair. From past experiences, I've only needed one box however if you are unsure it is always best to buy two. When I first bought this dye a year ago, I bought two boxes and I barely finished one when I dyed my hair last summer. Now that it's summer again, I've been wanting to dye my hair lighter and today was my chance. Because my hair is thicker, I generally leave the dye in for about an hour. However it is recommended that you leave it on for around 20-30 minutes.

As you can see my current has a bit of an ombre effect going on because my roots have grown in quite a lot since the last time I've dyed my hair using permanent dye. My hair already has a bit of a reddish tint since I've been using semi-permanent dyes that slowly fade after 6-8 weeks.

[ Before - Regular light]

[ After: L - Regular light || R - Natural light ]

TL;DR:
I enjoyed this dye, though the fumes were nauseating at times. The process is simple even if you don't understand Japanese or never used a similar hair dye. When I dried my hair last night I was able to get a glimpse of the colour and it was alright. It was nice, just nice. But now that it's the morning after, I love it! Especially in natural light! To be honest, I don't ever remember having my hair turn out this shade when I used it last year. As you can tell, my roots aren't perfect but it's much better now. My hair does feel a lot dryer which sucks cause my hair is already dry enough and I just got a haircut. Hmm... Now that I look at my hair in the natural light photo, the ends are quite similar to the box! But I had previous dye on the ends of my hair to help me out :)
Rating: 4/5

Trying new brands and colours can be quite scary~ I hope this helps you with whether or not you'd like to try this hair dye!

140313 - mini update: sephora interview!

Hey guys,

I'm actually in class right now... Or waiting for class to start while on my phone. I just had an all-nighter for my anthropology essay but today's my interview with Sephora aka there is no time to rest.

I'm not exactly sure what to expect. I tried googling it and the process some people went through is different from how  I applied/got the interview, Some had to go through multiple, some went through one. Although granted, the position I applied for was cashier which is not as intense as colour positions.

I'm really hoping I get this job, wish me luck!

- yours truly,

140201 - Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette [thoughts]

Ah............
It's been a while.

I have made it one of my new year's resolutions to post here more often!

-

I know there are a bunch of posts and reviews out there but why not say how I feel about it?
I was visiting every local Sephora I could get to for a month, but every single time I went they were sold out. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So I finally decided that I was just going to buy it online.

Unfortunately because I live in Canada, the Naked 3 Palette retails for a whopping $62 + tax, that's roughly $75 depending where you live because tax does vary within Canada. After two weeks of constantly checking my tracking number, it finally arrived in the mail!

I own the original Naked palette and was very happy finally have a Naked palette that snaps tight! While I absolutely love the original palette, sometimes I feel like the colours are a bit murky on me. I rarely use the darker half of the palette for that reason. I'm a range between light and medium (and on the rare occasion - tan). This is why I was hesitant to purchase this palette because I was afraid it would make me look like I had pink eye, but after swatching "Blackheart", my heart was set haha. Personally I feel like I can produce more "naked" looks with the 3rd palette rather than the 1st.

Yays:
- rose gold shades
- "Blackheart"
- snap-y container
- awesome double-ended brush
- actually looks nice on my skin tone (Sephora IQ shade 3Y07)

Nays:
- the consistency of "Dust"
- Canadian price + tax
- I loved the little container samples of the eyeshadow primer

Overall:
I love it but I don't think it's the best palette in the world.

130223- Mini Life Update~

You know that thing bloggers do all the time when they promise to blog and like they don't
... Hai guys.

To be honest, I have no idea what the direction of this blog is. I'll just be posting what I feel like and hope you all like it too LOL. I'm planning on posting reviews on my new Revlon eyeshadow palette, Revlon Nearly Naked foundation, Maybelline's Baby Lips and Revlon's Just Biten Lipstain + Balm. (I think many of you have realized by now that I adore Revlon's cosmetics <3.) I know I said I would be doing an update on my hair when I was supposed to re-dye it buuuuuuuuur I decided to re-dye in a few months right now. I don't want to kill my hair even more haha.

I'll be blogging on another blog ... But it won't be about anything I've posted here. It'll be on something totally different. I'll be posting the link here when my first post goes out!

121111 - Palty Hair Dye: Raspberry Macaron! [Review + Experience]

This was the first time I had ever dyed my hair. My hair has been highlighted multiple times but never full on dyed, much less at home. However my friend was desperate to dye her hair and persuaded me to join in the "hair dye" party (aka three of my friends meeting up and just dying our hair together LOL).

The shade that I bought at my local Chinese supermarket T&T (Yaohan) was Palty's "Raspberry Macaron". The front cover model's hair is a nice light brown with a hint of red (and I mean tiny). I have the typical super dark-brown-that's-almost-black Asian hair so obviously the results wouldn't be that extravagant which is what I wanted and was hoping for.

My friends are having a “hair dye sleepover” LOL. I’m hoping for a mix between the top two hearts. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out this Saturday! #nervous #palty #personal #hairdye #hair #asianhair #nervewracking #hopeful
Here is a picture of the overall box. The shade I was going for was going to be between the top two hearts:

Unfortunately, I completely forgot to take a picture of the materials inside the box so I'll just list them out for you.
  • A bottle labelled "1" that contains liquid to only ~1/4 filled with liquid
  • A tube labelled "2" that contains the colourant cream which is 40ml
  • A nozzle-cap like thing for bottle "1", it has a comb feature
  • A leave-in conditioner for after dye
  • An instruction manual (English, Japanese, Korean & Chinese)
  • gloves
Since the instructions are in English, I won't go into too much detail of the process.
Here's a rough overview of the instructions:

This first step isn't included in the instructions but I recommend you do it first. Before even mixing the dye, prep your skin. Apply petroleum jelly (vaseline) onto the back of your neck, ear area and face. Pretty much any skin near your hair. This will prevent the dye from staining your skin. Next take the tube "2" and squeeze all its contents into bottle "1", when finished place cap back on and shake vigorously until it has been properly mixed. Comb your hair before applying the dye. If you haven't already, apply put on your gloves! Now it's time to start applying! Switch the regular bottle cap for the comb like cap. Gently squeeze an appropriate amount of dye onto your hair while combing in sections. When product has been all used up, let your hair absorb the dye for ~20-30 minutes. After, wash your hair with shampoo twice then apply the leave-in conditioner. Ta-da! New hair colour! (hopefully.)

** That's a general summary of the instructions however, I didn't exactly follow them **

I used two boxes. My hair is mid-length (past shoulders) and super thick. I didn't apply all the dye at first, I tied up most of my hair and left a small section at the bottom of my head down. I applied dye to that section only because I wanted to test the colour out first. I waited a bit over 40 minutes for that small section of hair to absorb the dye. Again, my hair is super thick so I left it in longer . I washed my hair, dried it and the results were good. I wanted something that wasn't too big of a colour change. I returned to the remaining dye and it had begun to turn purple. My first thought was, "ohhhhhhhhhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz." My friend used Prettia (another Japanese brand) and did the exact same thing as me and hers also turned purple. However my Korean friend who was already experienced in home dyeing said it was fine. So then I put on my gloves and began to work the dye through my hair. I initially combed it through but I just stopped and applied the dye using my gloved hands. I focused mainly on my roots and the inside of my hair because I'd rather have slightly darker ends than darker roots LOL.After using both boxes of Palty, I waited a bit over 40 minutes and washed my hair. I saw the dye run down the tub of my friend's place and was a bit freaked out. The smell wasn't strong but you could definitely tell it was dye. According to my friend it actually smelled pretty good compared to her Prettia dye!

This photo was taken a day before. You can see that my hair is in fact super dark brown with a copper-y  brown for highlights!

This photo was taken directly after dyeing my hair. It was only dried slightly but you can definitely tell the difference from the day before.

This photo compares my crown area before and after the dye. My roots are pretty equal in colour and lighter now. Some parts are a bit lighter than others because of my previous highlights.

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdewwljfkT1qg4wtio1_500.jpgTL;DR:

The process was super easy! I do have to say that my head did sting for a minute or two after I finished applying the dye. My skin has always been super duper sensitive since I was little so it makes sense but the stinging went away almost instantly. I got the exact results I was hoping for! You do not know how nervous I was yesterday! I was so jumpy and I kept checking the timer saying, "IS IT TIME TO WASH MY HAIR YET?!" Although the shade implies some sort of red --> "Raspberry Macaron" ... There isn't really much which I expected.

Rating: 5/5

The lighting in this photo is very bright which shows
more of the colour and how it will probably look
like in direct sunlight.

** I hope this helps others! Especially those with dark hair because I had a hard time looking for review with similar hair qualities as mine haha.

140620 - EDIT::
Hii :>

If anyone other than myself is actually reading this ... Claps for you! Thanks!
I'm not too sure what I'll be posting here. This probably won't become a regular thing. I'm just posting reviews and such on items that have little reviews or something that I just feel like reviewing. At this point it'll prob be items that are not easy to get a hold of regularly such as Asian beauty products~

I might end up posting about other stuff too but we'll see. I hope my current reviews/experiences help you, the reader! ^^

This will be my beauty + lifestyle blog! I'm very excited. I used to be a blog writer back in the day (k-pop LOL). I know there are a lot of similar blogs out there but I love writing about things I'm actually interested in haha.
------
This isn't going to be too legit (or I don't think it will become). I'm just a senior high school student in love with "those little obsessions."

Get it? LOL.

Again, thanks for reading and stay tuned!

My first official post with be on a hair dye review and run through with "Palty Raspberry Macaron/Macaroon!" I'll be dying my hair with a few friends this weekend so expect the post by Monday!

Have a great long weekend my fellow Canadians! Lest we forget.
